The best instant coffee Iâve found
I love instant coffee for days I donât want to deal with the cleaning of the moka pot or pour over, but itâs been difficult to find instant coffee made from freeze dried beans instead of freeze dried coffee. This giant bag is excellent value, for surprisingly good coffee. Itâs a little on the bitter side, and youâll definitely find some sediment in your cup, but itâs very very finely ground and mixes nicely and tastes like a good strong cuppa coffee. I decant mine into a jar for every day use, and refill as necessary.

Delicious and smooth
I am so happy to have this coffee! I have been drinking Americanos with heavy cream for years. This coffee hits the mark for me. A tablespoon in my go cup with hot water and heavy cream lasts me all day. Today I tried it black and WOW. Smooth and no acid!. Great coffee, easy to make, and reasonably priced.

My go-to instant coffee for a variety of uses!
My go-to instant coffee for a variety of uses!I love good coffee, and I usually make my own at home. However, during the pandemic, I decided to try a bunch of different things like all the variety of ramen and ramen-like products available on Amazon (there are some VERY quality instant ramens out there, but it’ll cost you a few dollars more than your typical 25-cent pack of Maruchan or Nissin), and also instant coffee. What a weird thing to try all the varieties of during a pandemic, right? Well, in a pinch I’ve always come to rely on the trusty Medaglia D’Oro instant espresso for a quick, alright-tasting pick me up when I don’t have the time to brew a cup of coffee (yes, I know it only takes a few minutes, but bear with me here, this is my journey, not yours!). It also makes for a quick way to add coffee flavor to cakes, cupcakes, brownies, etc. without brewing.Around $15 may seem like a lot to spend on instant coffee, but you get a fairly big bag of this stuff. It’s a super fine granule, and a couple of tablespoons to a cup of water (hot or cold, more on that in a moment) goes a long way. I usually do 10oz hot water to 1 measured, leveled tablespoon of the coffee. Mix, add some cream, and it’s actually quite good. This instant coffee, unlike some of its cheaper, name-brand counterparts, isn’t overly strong or bitter. It’s a fairly smooth and tasty coffee, all of that coffee flavor. One bag lasts quite a bit of time.I’ve had some of the lower quality (sorry, but it’s true) brands of instant coffee, as well. You know, the super name brand stuff you find on every supermarket store shelf. They’re usually overly bitter and strong tasting. Is it caffeine? You bet your shoelaces they are, champ. Can it be improved with enough cream and sugar? Well, slugger, I don’t know about you, but … ok they cannot. They just become creamy, weirdly sweet, bitter drinks. These also don’t make for very good iced coffee.Iced coffee, you say? Well, yes! See, I’m originally from Boston, and in Boston you drink iced coffee year round. Minus 30 in the middle of a friggin’ blizzard with 4 foot high snowdrifts and your cah’s buries and you can’t get out to buy bread and milk? Iced coffee, it’s wicked pissah after all. (also there’s this thing called Dunkin Donuts and it’s kind of big in Boston, and while their coffee isn’t great, their iced coffee is actually quite good especially on a hot summer day)See, most of the instant coffee brands out there have a super coarse dried coffee granule. This means it reacts best to hot water to dissolve. Sure you can chill it and ice it afterwards, but why go through all those steps just to have an iced coffee that’s a bit too strong, bitter, and doesn’t taste as good as it should? Anthony’s instant coffee is a very fine grind. It practically melts in cold water, and then you can toss in a couple of ice cubes and some cream and sugar (although, sugar dissolves easier in hot water, so maybe simple syrup), and you have yourself what tastes like a better version of Dunkin Donuts iced coffee, and definitely not as rudely sharp as some of Starbucks. And if you’re wondering why I left out Tim Horton’s, well, they don’t seem keen on iced coffee. :)So in closing, I’ve tried a lot of the instant coffees on the market in the last year, and Anthony’s is my favorite by far for flavor, smoothness, value, and versatility.

Expensive but it’s organic
Good taste. Instant coffee. Organic. But too expensive.

Really good coffee
This is a really smooth blend. It’s highly recommended for people who like the Arabica blends. Here’s a pro tip for it and all other instant coffees. Instant coffee has a tendency to burn whenever the hot water is added. This burning of the dehydrated coffee causes a somewhat bitter and inferior taste â the infamous “instant coffee taste” that some people complain loudly about. This can be fixed by filling the coffee cup 1/4 of the way with warm (not hot) water and mixing the instant coffee into it. Add the hot water only after the coffee has been thoroughly dissolved, and the burning won’t occur. Try it if you drink instant coffee, and you’ll be stunned at the difference. It won’t have the “instant coffee taste”.

Average at best
I had high expectations for this coffee given its price and organic certification. Normally, I buy the Sprouts Organic Instant Coffee, which is pricier but has a much smoother flavor and no aftertaste. Unfortunately, this one didnât quite measure up. While itâs still a decent option, the flavor isnât as refined, and it leaves a bit of an aftertaste. If you’re willing to spend a little more, the Sprouts brand offers a noticeably smoother experience.

This is perfect coffee for when one needs a quick drink in minimal time. 2 teaspoons with 300ml water/milk makes a nice coffee. This is my go to option when don’t have time for the full coffee routine of grinding, brewing, etc.
