    Great taste, great value
I’m what I would call a “beginner coffee aficionado.” So not terribly experienced with coffees, I don’t speak the coffee lingo yet, but experienced enough that I can comment on what I like and don’t like.I don’t even like most coffees unless heavily flavored and sweetened, but my gut likes coffee so I have sought the “perfect” coffee – not bitter like the dark roasts tend to be, but also not “watery” – it needs to be flavorful, and wouldn’t it be great if it was so good I could drink it black? This is perhaps the best coffee I’ve had, and that’s without sweeteners or creamers. It’s pleasant, flavorful, not bitter at all, it tastes as good sweetened as not.Even though the description here says Amazon Fresh Nicaraguan Whole Bean Coffee is arabaca coffee beans that are just “single sourced,” somehow I like this medium roast Nicaraguan coffee much better than its Amazon Fresh Columbian equivalent, even though they’re both arabaca coffee beans. This coffee is almost as good as Kona coffee, but much more reasonably priced. Clearly there’s something more to it than just the variety of bean and a map location of where it’s grown.Looking up some coffee vocabulary, I guess this is what we would call a “fine” coffee, naturally “sweet” coffee that’s “buttery” and um, “mellow”? I feel so unqualified to use those terms accurately because I have so little experience with coffees, but I hope that’s helpful.

Makes a good cup of coffee
This makes a good cup of coffee for the price. The packaging and overall quality seem great. But the flavor is just mild. I’ve made a few different cups using a French press, and it tastes fresh but nothing crazy. I’d recommend a darker roast if you’re looking for a more rich flavor experience. But I’d say this is great if you’re looking for affordable beans to dress up with milk or something like that.

    very good
I’m a big fan of amazon’s coffee beans. The Nicaraguan is a good one. It’s slightly darker than the other Amazon medium roasts I’ve purchased Colombian and Donut Shop. It’s stronger and has a more pronounced flavor profile than those other 2 amazon medium roast beans, so you probably will either like it or not, depending on your tastes. If I use the same amount of the Nic as the other two mediums I mentioned it comes out too strong, so I use less. Highly caffeinated compared to most coffee I’ve tried. Will buy again, but I like the Colombian and Donut Shop a little better. This is a good change of pace though.

    Fresh
So I ordered this coffee as I recently tried the Amazon Colombian whole beans coffee at a lower price point, and honestly it was not bad, so I decided to give this a try. I think for the value it is not bad coffee, fresh, no bitter aftertaste, and beans looked consistent and not over roasted. Is it GREAT? No, but as I stated at the start for the price point it is sold, it’s better than expected. It is slightly stronger in flavor than Colombian but in no way overpowering. The flavor is bit nutty with slight chocolate overtones. I bought whole beans and grind as I use, fresher that way, and I believe Amazon offers decent coffees at a economical price point, Thanks

Excellent coffee. Full flavored but not overpowering. Can definitely taste the chocolate notes. Will definitely buy again.

    Tastes stale, weak; low-caffeine
I first tried the Amazon Columbian blend, and I was very disappointed. I wondered if somehow they put decaf beans in the wrong packaging and sent it to me. It tasted stale, old, and it was so low-caffeine that I felt pretty sluggish and got a headache later in the day, even though I brewed the same amount of coffee that I always do. The price is so favorable I had to try at least one other blend to see if the first batch was a fluke. The Nicaragua blend was just as bad as the Columbian. Maybe quality varies between shipments, but I don’t understand how people enjoy this stuff. The Kirkland brand beans from Costco are excellent. ALDI has great whole bean coffee as well, and priced very well. Stay away from the Amazon brand.

    My Favorite Coffee!
This is my daily coffee. It’s a perfect roast for me and the bonus is it benefits the local growers who work so hard to make a decent living in Nicaragua. Everyone I’ve shared this coffee with enjoys it. I love being able to help support hard working families who take pride in their product.
