Takes some learning, then totally worth it!
There are flaws to this, BUT if you learn how to navigate them, it makes this pour over totally worth it! The first thing I noticed when taking it out. I immediately went to wash it so I could use it and discovered the black silicone handle piece on the filter isn’t fixed. There’s just a slit in the silicone and it slides on and off the stainless stem. So when I washed it, it immediately came off and I had to fish it out of the garbage disposal. I have to remember to take it off before I wash it or I will lose it. It’s super annoying and it’s just a matter of time before it disappears forever. The next thing I noticed is the wood collar does feel bulky in your hands and slides on the glass so it doesn’t feel very secure in my hands. I’m just cautious when picking it up and have gotten used to how it feels and trust that I’m not going to drop it. Next when making coffee the filter creates too much of a seal in the glass, meaning the coffee won’t drip on the bottom. Or it does super slow and then stops. To alleviate the pressure you have to lift the filter, but then it started sputtering out the sides and burned my hand. If you fill the filter with too much water in general, it starts sputtering coffee out of the sides hitting everything surrounding it with hot coffee. It did this throughout the entire process of making the coffee. There was a huge mess all over the counter, and I was afraid of burning my fingers all the time. However this super slow drip creates a nice strong cup of coffee. My last filter also left “mud” in the bottom of my cup and this one doesn’t do that. I decided the taste of the coffee was worth trying to figure this out and if I couldn’t I’d return it. So i found after trial and error, if you don’t fill the filter with water past the top of the wood collar, it drips better and if you have to lift the filter to alleviate the pressure it doesn’t sputter water out. No mess. No burned fingers. Just use the wood collar as the MAX limit mark of water and it’ll be good. And again before you wash the filter, take the little black piece off and set it to the side and immediately replace it So you don’t lose it or have to fish it out of the garbage disposal. If you do those things, you’ll probably be pleased with the results. This really makes a great and delicious cup of coffee and I’m a huge fan of the super slow drip. So it takes a little learning and getting used to it, but it’s worth it 🙂

    Makes great coffee
I’ve had several pour-over set-ups, this is a good one. The carafe is a little sturdier than a couple I’ve had and broken easily. This one is on the small side but perfect for us since we like our coffee super-fresh. One pot full is enough for 3 to 4 cups. Since it’s sort of a squatty pot, it isn’t really easy to handle for someone with fairly large hands, but I do like the wooden insulator – covers a little more of the glass than most, so it doesn’t burn your fingers as easily as some pour-overs I’ve used. The metal basket strainer is okay, but I prefer using a larger one from a previous pour-over I had, just because I prefer the rate of flow. Overall, I rate this a very good product. I would absolutely buy it again.

    Love this pour over pot!!!
This is the perfect size to make a few cups of coffee at once. The carafe is beautiful and comfortable to pour from. It’s compact style stores easily. The pour over filter is a double-walled style, it does not clog & cleans up easily. A small brush is included to clean the used grounds from the filter. They also include a buffing cloth for the carafe. This makes a great cup of coffee. Highly recommend. Would make a nice gift!

    Very poor design
This coffee system is very flawed. The neck of the decanter is too wide to grip because there is a half-inch thick wooden piece around it, making it too wide for the average person’s hand. Also, the wooden neck piece slides around as you try to pour with it, making it unstable and dangerous. The only safe way to pour hot coffee from this thing is to use two hands and an oven mitt or thick dish towel to support the bottom as you pour. The stainless steel filter that comes with it is too small for the decanter, making it necessary to pour smaller amounts of water through it at a time. I’m unable to find the packaging it came in, otherwise I would return it.

    Wonderful coffee pot
We can usually get about 3 – 10oz cup servings. We have used this with an additional paper filter at times, but prefer without (taste is more similar to French press). There is a suction that happens if you poor the water too quickly through the filter, this can cause spilling. But is easily avoided by pouring slowly or wedging something between the filter and the neck of the pot.

Previous reviews identified a few issues with this; a couple of which I managed to work around.1. When the seive is filled with grounds its nearly airtight to the decanter, which causes a flow issue. I got around this by wedging a glass straw under the seive which provides an air escape and corrected the flow.2. The decanter doesn’t come with a stopper. I found that the seive when filled with wet grounds makes a very nice heat stopper.I did find however that the decanter does not pour very well despite it having a shaped surface for it…. It kinda dribbles down the side if you pour too slowly.Otherwise it works well and produces a perfectly good coffee and when used with coarse grounds very little silt is produced.
