I was a tad nervous when unboxing as I heard some clanging around but it was just the plastic cleaning brush within the carafe tossing about, nothing was broken. In fact I was impressed with the overall design of the cold brew carafe. The silicone sleeve is on snugly and does provide you the bit of grip needed on this. The glass is clear and without issues, there are measurements on the side which the silicone sleeve has covered and ended up taking a bit of it off the glass. The metal filter is nice and thanks to the brush it is relatively easy to clean, depends who’s hands are doing the washing. The lid is on snugly with a silicone ring that will twist off the metal filter. It’s a fair size yet doesn’t take up a lot of space in the fridge since it doesn’t have a handle. Wish I got this sooner to have enjoyed all throughout the summer.

I don’t know if it’s surviving a drop from the counter, but it’s definitely not going to just break if you put it down a bit too hard. The thickness of the glass is also nice to hold temperature a bit longer. We only used this carafe cold. To make cold brew coffee. There’s no instructions in the box but I’m not sure that they’re needed anyway. We grind our own beans which we use in our espresso maker anyway, and let them sit in the fridge over night in the carafe. Since we don’t drink the entire thing in a day, I usually empty out the filter the next morning so the grinds aren’t in the filter the entire time.Another bonus is how convenient it is now to make espresso martini’s whenever we want! You don’t get the nice foam that you do if you’re shaking up freshly pulled espresso, but the taste is still there.cool product that we’ll probably put to use every week for a long time.

I love cold brew (even in winter) and like making a large amount. I love this maker because it’s glass and stainless steel. Clean up was also super easy; just invert the filter and tap against the garbage. For those unfamiliar w/ cold brew, you will always have some type of sediment and you will never 100% relieve your self of the ground beans because they will be wet.

I have been on a coffee craze and wanted to make cold brew. I saw a few containers and opted for this one.The first thing I noticed was how solid the glass feels the metal filter that holds the grinds is very well made and washes easily. The caraf looks small in the photos but is quite large. It is listed as 1600ml, and found that to be a good size for my needs.Everything washes easily and looks and feels very high quality.

It’s very easy to clean and use with fine-ground coffee, and far cheaper than this, but smaller volume.)It’s a nice looking device . Of the main reasons I guarded is because it has a flared base which means it fits better in my short shelf height fridge. It looks premium enough to leave out on the table when you’re serving iced coffee. (As much as I love my Hario, there’s something about its plastic fittings that don’t make it look as nice as this on the table.) The metal filter holes are a decent size for when you’re using medium-coarse ground coffee. I wouldn’t use fine ground coffee for cold coffee in the first place , and with the holes size in this filter you don’t want to do either. It will make it both difficult to clean, and not allow for good water circulation while brewing. The other advantage this has over my Hario is simply the volume: it’s 1600 mL vs the Hario’s 1100 mL at best. When serving cold brew coffee to guests, you run out of 1100 mL very quickly. Now I have almost 3 L of cold brew power!Speaking of volume, it’s nice to have the gradations on the side of the carafe. It would also be nice to have gradations on the inside of the filter for people who do not have a weigh scale. Gradations would reflect volume, not mass – it’s an inaccurate measure because it depends on grind size and packing density – but it would give you something to go on. (I’m being picky. Brewing cold coffee is very forgiving so this isn’t an actual problem.)I haven’t tested it for tea myself, but I bet this will work very well with good loose leaf and hot water. It’s borosilicate glass, so I don’t see any risk to pouring boiling water right into the carafe. I really like that it comes with a cleaning cloth. The flared base shape of the carafe also means it is safer to swirl without losing any coffee out the top, unlike the Hario’s cylindrical carafe. You will get settled fines on the bottom after your brew; a quick swirl distributes them through the brew rather than giving that last person a cup they chew rather than sip. 😀

It has a clean modern look that I like to present to guests at my home. My wife didn’t like the graduated cylinder look (painted white measuring lines and quantities along the outside of the unit) but I think it serves a practical purpose if you are making specialty coffees and drinks and need to measure things carefully. The spout has been designed correctly so it pours without dripping, too.In case you were thinking of also using this for hot tea I can give you my results: It works fine and the strainer has super fine holes so zero tea leaves will get into your steeped tea. It’s not sold as a teapot because the silicone grip doesn’t fend off heat but it can be used if you are patient with your tea prep. The glass absolutely passed the shock test by going from very cold to boiling hot in just seconds. The only real downsides of this carafe are:-the relatively thin rubber seals, which make it slightly annoying to remove the strainer and remove the lid when there is very little weight in the unit (two hands, people!)-a slightly sharp edge on the stainless steel strainer. You are unlikely to cut yourself but it could shave off some skin if you aren’t careful when washing it.-the included cleaning brush is a little short for getting right to the bottom of the strainer, but you’ll probably use a vase cleaning brush anyway.

It cannot handle super fine grind, as its filter lets them through. Nevertheless, the result is still delicious. Although it looks beautiful, the glass is not very durable because it shattered from a short height from the top to the bottom of the sink. Handle with care if you wish to use it, but choose something else if you want something more lasting.

Glass carafe was not secure in the box. I could hear a clinking sound as I opened it (I thought it was broken!!) To my surprise a purple/pink cloth was in the glass carafe. (The absolute most random surprise in any amazon order I have ever had!) The top is visibly dirty and scratched. Rubber on the top does not properly fit. Filter does not fit into the top. It did come with a random brush too.

The carafe arrived in it’s box in bubble wrap so it was well protected. I wish it came with some starter instructions as I’ve never made cold brew before. Figuring “how hard could it be?” I washed everything, put some grounds in the strainer and filled the carafe with filtered water. After messing with the silicone gaskets a bit (they shift easily because they’re really thin), I got everything together and put it in the fridge overnight. Next day….boom….wonderful iced cold brew coffee!I think I prefer the taste of cold brew to using hot coffee and icing it down. It seems smoother and also more flavorful.Anyway, cleaning the strainer is a pain but if you tap it enough you’ll get most of the grounds out. I don’t really see the included brush as being useful for anything really. It’s too short to reach so I’ll just throw it in a drawer for some other purpose. The cleaning cloth is nice, but again not really of much use for the carafe.Being a bit worried about banging the bottom of the carafe as I moved it around the kitchen, I grabbed a silicone bowl lid that was about the right size and stretched it over the bottom for a little bit of cushion. Worked like a charm. This probably won’t survive a drop, but seems durable enough if you’re reasonably careful with it.

You have to take out the coffee mesh and lid to pour it properly. The function of pouring doesn’t make sense. There’s also a strong coffee odor from the rubber and it’s obvious this was a return. I’m fine with using used products but at a great discount. I will be returning.
