Double-Headed Espresso Tamper and Distributor by
MATOW

The 51mm Palm Tamper side creates a perfectly flat tamp surface every time, therefore creating a consistent puck density.
With it’s height adjustable collar you can adjust your tamp depth so that you tamp perfectly for your desired coffee dose.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
STEP 1 – Load your portafilter basket with the desired amount of freshly ground coffee.
STEP 2 – Retract the distributor side to it’s shallowest depth, and place the distributor on your portafilter, blade side down.
STEP 3 – Gently spin the distributor until your coffee grounds have been evenly distributed and leveled. If the distributor does not reach the coffee, adjust the depth accordingly. Note: you do not want to be applying heavy pressure to the grounds at this stage — only enough to level the coffee in the basket.
STEP 4 – Flip the distributor over and extend the tamper (flat side) to its maximum height. Tamp your grounds to your desired pressure.
STEP 5 – For consistent tamping every time, adjust the tamper depth so it matches the depth of the tamp you created in Step 4.

51mm Size-The adjustable palm distributor & tamper is designed to be compatible with Delonghi 51mm portafilter and other 51mm espresso machines including: Pump machine series, Capresso PRO.
Consistent Espresso- Get consistent distribution and pressure every time making it easy to pull your perfect shot right at home, Leveling your grounds before tamping creates a uniform and consistent tamp.
Adjustable Depth – Set your desired tamping depth for consistent tamping pressure every time.
Dual Head- Distributor/Leveler and tamper are designed in one, double sides are available.
Pro Tips-Ensure your portafilter basket is fully dosed with coffee grinds to get the right amount of pressure from the tamper for a tighter pack and richer flavor. For best results, groom the top of the basket with a finger or flat edge before leveling and tamping. Brew with good, filtered water.

Customers say

Perfect. Great build quality. Does its job.
This thing is a tank. It’s heavy, sturdy, beautifully built, and best of all, tamps my coffee. My only warning is that there is a minimum tamp and distributer depth. What I mean is that you can easily adjust the tamp or distributer to, for instance, put 13g in an 18g basket and have it be perfectly level. You just cant lower the depth enough to get a good distribution if you’re squeezing 19g in an 18g basket. Since this actually helps make sure you have enough space between the puck and shower head, I’m not counting it against the design. Just a word of warning for those of us squeezing in larger than designed doses.

    Very easy to use
Simple yet effective tamper. Not much to say about it. The weight feels really good and super easy to use. Just set it on with the “blades” facing down and spin. Take it off, knock off the remaining espresso ground on the sides. while resting on the counter, place this with flat side down and give it a healthy press down and get a perfect tamper every time. The sizing (at least for my 51mm) is accurate and fits perfectly.

    Pleasantly surprised!
Wasn’t expecting too much because it’s not the fanciest on the market, but I was impressed at it’s weight and how well it seems to be constructed. Definitely a huge improvement compared to my previous method of tamping.Only a couple super small complaints: sometimes coffee groups get pressed into the edges. Not a huge deal and easy to clean with a small brush or a puff of air. Also, sometimes coffee grounds get stuck to it’s surface in random spots. This happens infrequently, but it’s annoying when it does.Overall, I would still definitely purchase this again, very happy with it!

    Perfect tamp
Oh my goodness, even better than expected results. I received this product today and immediately got it dialed in. The vortex coming off of my bottomless portafilter was as big as a Texas tornado and the crema, oh so much crema!

    TOO SMALL
The tamper seems to be a quality product, but it was advertised to fit Delonghi Espresso machines and it does not. There doesn’t seem to be alot of information about the size of the Cup Filter Assembly for the Delonghi EC155M Manual Espresso Machine, but it is actually 53MM NOT 51MM. When using the 51MM tamper you will push coffee around versus tamping it down. 2MM will make a big difference when used properly.

Heavy, well made adjustable both sides. Fits custom and stock portafilters that I have. Have only used twice, that’s the reason for 4 stars for now5 stars. Works perfectly

At 51mm it’s fits inside the La Pavoni Professional basket with a little bit of wiggle room.(New Group 2000 onwards)The La Pavoni snuggly fits 51.5mm Tamps so this leveller & tamp fits easily with 0.5mm spare and does a great job.Easily adjustable for depth on both sides, nice weight and does a great job giving a consistent puck that is evenly distributed, level and well tamped in one easy tool.Well worth the asking price and I’ve enjoyed the results to date.

This is a compact, substantial tamper. The two threaded halves are individually adjustable for depth and deserve you spending some time to tweak the settings. You can then ‘lock’ in your depth with the center lug. I used my measuring spoon to add the coffee, rotated the distributer then adjusted the threads so it was sitting minimum height above the portafilter lip.** Rotate the distributer (propeller side) the wrong direction & it will not level, but push grounds out of your filter. Then take the time to compress the grounds with the other side. Keep adjusting the depth until the tamper side is just flush with the filter lip. I don’t worry about 25-30 lb pressure, just use two hands and my body weight over my counter top. Really worried about pressure? Put your bathroom scale on your counter and press on it to check your force. My coffee measure gets treated by one simple, sturdy tool instead of two, less clutter and a consistent shot. I’m very happy with this device.
