Double-check your seal before you flip these; really nice snacking accessory and easy to clean
I really wanted to love these 100%. In fact, I ordered them in all 3 colors: pink, yellow, and blue (I included a photo to show the difference). Under the right lighting, the blue looks a bit more green but all are in pastel shades. From what I can tell (by tapping), the strainer/divider is also made of glass like the main jar.I have been using these jars primarily for soaking almonds (for homemade nut milk), whole green and black olives, sandwich-sliced pickles, kalamata olives, and for soaking snack-sized veggies (carrots, celery) to keep them fresher longer.When the jars are cold (notice the pink-capped jar in the photo), they do give off condensation and can be slippery to handle when gripping the jar. I have to towel dry them off before removing the lid or simply use a towel for grip. I find myself wanting to put them in a container (notice the yellow-capped one in the photo) just in case they leak, because I feel a bit paranoid about my ability to thread the plastic caps just right for a perfect seal.What I hadn’t accounted for was that the lids would be plastic, and therefore flexible when attempting to tighten them around a glass rim. And the glass’ threading is not forgiving. This means that I cannot mindlessly tighten the jar and feel comfortable just placing it back on the shelf. Both caps (top and bottom) do have an easily removable/washable gasket that is generously sized to assist with the sealing process, but the plastic lids can flex and even skip occasionally when attempting to tighten these lids. And normally, that wouldn’t be a big deal on a regular jar – but these jars will be flipped on their heads often. So I really need to have more confidence in my sealing abilities.The other issue I hadn’t considered is that sometimes the liquid will come up short because of the jar’s shape in comparison to the original manufacturer’s jar. Notice the pickles on the yellow jar aren’t completely submerged, because the jar I removed them from was narrower which helped the liquid fill to a higher level.Every issue I have with these would likely be the same for a similar product. Any liquid-storing container with a twist-seal cap that needs to be flipped on its head will likely make me a bit uneasy. So for now, I will continue to use another storage container under them until I build my confidence. They really have been great for my late-night snacking. Knowing I can flip my olives upside-down and remove all the liquid in an instant so I can snack right out of the jar has been my vice lately.I think the only thing that could improve these would be some sort of locking hinged lid on each end just to give a bit more confidence in sealing and flipping them over. I think the price is right for the quality of the glass and strainer, but the flexibility of the lids make me question their reliability. And cleaning them is a breeze, but will take a minute or two to rinse all the soap out from around the strainer.

Pickle and Olive Glass Hourglass Jar with Strainer
I never eat pickles except for relish in salads but do use a lot of olives. I choose this pickle/olive jar in the hope it would indeed work for olives. The holes in the divider are quite large but small enough to catch the olives (note that the holes are too large for something like pickle relish–one would need to use sliced pickles or small shorties). The first thing to note is size–this hourglass container is 7 and 1/4″ tall and 4″ wide. Due to its size it may be possible to over estimate how much weight to put in it so I stopped filling at one 5 oz olive jar. The strainer is made of lead free borosilicate glass which is the best glass for the kitchen. The middle strainer is also glass. Both lids are heavy duty ABS plastic/BPA free.The principle is to store pickles (or olives) in the large end, then flip it over so the liquid will drain into the other end making it much easier to fish out the pickle or olive. This works so well that I hate to think about all those years I wasted trying to fish olives out of their brine with a fork when I could have had this great invention. It is one of those items I would never conjure up in my imagination but once seeing a photo, the “I want that” glands immediately kicked in! Another great asset is that the jar is freezer and dishwasher safe. Since it is glass perhaps it will not have much of a brine smell over time but if it does, it will just be olives so what is the harm for such a useful item? It looks good too.

Unfortunately, it leaks
It’s a great concept and the jar is an efficient shape and size. However, I could not get the jar to stop leaking no matter what I did. I was truly disappointed.

Love this!
I am obsessed with this thing. Growing up, my parents had a tupperware one with a handle you lifted up and it was so handy. I am so happy to have my own version now. The lids are very secure and I have had zero problem with leaks. It’s very easy to clean and take apart to wash. The glass feels thick and sturdy. It’s easy for my kids to flip the jar and be able to easily access pickles. I have been digging into a liquid filled pickle jar for way too many years chasing pickles in circles. It holds a decent amount. I have large canning jar size pickles and can fit about half of them in there at a time. I love the look of it and the splash of color.
