I like these snap ball strainers a lot, very cool and functional. I especially like that it comes with two because I can use one for tea and the other for my original need, which was as herb soaker for soups and stews. Occasionally when I’m cooking, and you have some loose items like herb bundles, or schezwan peppercorns, etc., it’s always a pain to have to try and strain them out at the end, and this worked phenomenally for that effort. You can just place all the ingredients inside of the ball, and it automatically closes when you let go of it, with a tight seal so I wasn’t worried about anything leaking out, and the mesh was fine enough that nothing snuck through either. Then when your soup or stew is done, you can just pull it right out and you’ve gotten rid of all the things you would normally have to skim off. Incredibly helpful for what I was looking for, and would definitely purchase them again in the future if needed. Would recommend!

I purchased this item due to its claims about size and tight closure, and the handle design. My purpose was to use it to add and stir Balance Grow honey, citron & ginger tea to hot water. This tea is a gel and pulp (incredibly delicious). I thought this item would help strain the pulp (which is edible, but I don’t always want to do so). Because you can only fill half of the strainer (it opens vertically), it’s a little difficult to get the full amount I want into it. I had to use it 2-3 times to get the strength I want, but it did stir and the tea dissolved leaving the pulp behind. Hence only 4 stars total and for ease of use. Otherwise, I think for teas other than the gel type, it is easy to use.PROS: closes tightly, easy to open and close due to the uniquely shaped handle. Probably great for loose-leaf tea and instant coffee. The dimensions are listed; however, the photos are misleading as to the size relative to the hand holding the item – it looks larger than the dimensions stated.I was able to rinse this out and/or put in my dishwasher and it was fully cleaned. I can’t rate this on sturdiness, since I’ve only just received it and used it once.

I finally found them!
I had been looking for these all over town. Of course, I should have started with Amazon. I have some wonderful loose tea, and although I’m a heavy coffee drinker, I like a good cup of tea occasionally. They were affordable and work like a charm. Very pleased with my purchase.

I read an article on pfa’s in teabags. Been drinking tea with tea bags forever, of course not knowing about pfa in the material used to make teabags. Use these instead now.

mesh a little big but ok and good quality

The basket is not large, it’s fairly small so these steepers are ok for some teas but not for tea leaves that expand and open during a steep. For example I can use my earl grey tea with this steeper but I cannot use it for an oolong tea. Overall, I prefer larger baskets that are compatible with all tea leaves and allow leaves to expand.
