Product Description
At Gobena, we are passionate that everyone can Go Make a Difference.
One way to do this is by drinking GREAT coffee for a GREAT cause. Our coffee beans are purchased fresh and in season from the farmer. For example, when our Colombian partner harvests their coffee and finishes the drying process, we import the dried green coffee beans as soon as possible. Once the beans arrive, we small batch roast them. When we say fresh, we mean fresh.
We also believe that beans are roasted to bring out their original flavor. Each bean has different flavor notes and requires different roast temperatures and times. Roasting in small batches allows us to roast each bean to its full potential! Is the coffee your currently drinking over roasted? Probably so. Most roasters tend to over roast because they are using old, out of season beans. That’s why your coffee tastes burnt.
Quality Beans Fresh Roasted
Our coffee is roasted on a Joper Roaster. Manufactured in Canelas, Portugal, Joper has been manufacturing roasters since 1962 and is proud to combine the genuine quality of the European Old World with the most recent technology. Joper symbolises performance, quality and value, giving the roasters, like Gobena, a competitive advantage. All of our coffee is roasted and packed the same day.
100% Pledge
100% of Gobena’s profit goes to helping orphaned and vulnerable children throughout the world. Gobena partners with Lifesong for Orphans to work with at risk children and young adults.
Our Beginning
In the summer of 2007 in Ethiopia, Gobena, an elderly farmer, found and rescued a baby girl when she was abandoned near his home. For more than four weeks, Gobena and his wife tried to care for this newborn as best they could, but soon realized she needed more than they could offer. They carried her 5 miles to town where she was given food and shelter. This baby girl, named Eva, was adopted by a loving family from Illinois. This act of love inspired the adoptive family to start Gobena Coffee where 100% of the net profits are given to Lifesong for Orphans. Pictured above are Gobena, his wife Mulunesh and the adoptive family.

Excellent deep clean taste and great value
My husband grinds his own coffee every morning and has for 50 years. We have tried many many different beans over that time and Gobena Guatamalan is favorite of all. The taste is indeed medium roast, but deep, with very good flavor. Gobena beans should be everyone’s go to coffee for the wonderful aspiration to make children’s lives better all over the planet, which it accomplishes. Support Gobena!

To each his own…
Once I read their connection with Lifesong I realized I was not fully supportive of their connection/mission, so I respectfully decline their product & will search for alternative coffee.

Amazing coffee!
I had already had another flavor of Gobena coffee that my aunt gave me. It was very good. I was looking to see if Amazon might have other country flavors available. I saw Guatemala & flipped. I had been on a trip to Guatemala 15 years ago, & brought back bags of coffee in any spare spot in my suitcase. I ordered the Gobena Guatemala to try, & it has not disappointed! It is so smooth but with a wonderful, rich flavor. I’m on my 3rd bag, & I’ve given away two bags to my aunt & daughter. I LOVE this Organic coffee!! ðâ¤

GREAT COFFEE – GREAT CAUSE!!
Not only is this one of my fave coffee’s, excellent in my espresso machine, but the cause, “100% of Gobena’s profit goes to helping orphaned and vulnerable children throughout the world” – is to be admired!! Thank you!

Very good coffee
I bought this coffee because itâs fair trade, and Iâve recently been reading about the great poverty of coffee growers in Guatemala. Itâs very good coffee! So not only can I do something to help, but also I can have something I really appreciate.

very bland watered down flavor
I was tired of coffee prices increasing, so I searched high and low for a good organic fair trade whole bean coffee at a decent price, and found this. I was excited to try the coffee so it was added to my subscribe and save.after opening it and brewing a pot, when poured the coffee wasn’t as dark as medium roasts I’m used it, the coffee we medium-light. and when I drank it, it lacked flavor. just to make sure I didn’t brew a bad batch, I decided to try it for a couple days. and every day, light color and lacking flavor. :(I tried to reach out to the seller, but couldn’t find contact info. I now have a 5lb bag of coffee I am not satisfied with. I guess that is a lesson to not buy coffee on the internet.
