Step 1: Fold the CHEMEX filter in half. Then fold in half again, bringing the two corners together. Place your finger between the 3rd and 4th layer and open into a funnel.
Step 2: Place the funnel in the top portion of the CHEMEX coffeemaker, with 3 layers on the groove side. The groove is an air vent (and also the pouring spout) and allows air to escape from the lower portion of the coffeemaker, letting the coffee filter
Step 3: Put coffee in the filter paper cone. Use one heaping tablespoon per cup of coffee (adjust to personal taste if needed after first brew). Refer to brewing instructions for remaining steps.

I have been looking for the perfect coffee brewing set up for a long time. I have found it in this system.I allow the filter to sit in the pot all day and night, empty it in the morning and use the other fold for a second cup. Kind of a fuss, but, the second use makes me feel less guilty for the amount of paper involved in the filter and cost effective as well.

Something for the frustrated home chemist who enjoys coffee
As a frustrated home chemist (my doctoral degree is organic chemistry), I find this brings a satisfying memory of all the hours I spent in the lab brewing up all sorts of noxious concoctions, not counting my lab-brewed coffee which I thoroughly enjoyed. What’s there to say, this a quality coffee filter that perfectly fits the Chemex flask and filters out all particulates, leaving only the perfect essence of my favorite caffeinated beverage. Coffee filters also help to lower the amount of cafestrol and kahweol, triterpenes that increase LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), so there may be some health benefits here too. Enjoy!

Great filters for your Chemex
Filters work great with my Chemex. My only complaint with them is they seem to give the coffee a taste. It is recommended you poor some of the hot water from your kettle to get rid of this taste. However, I still noticed it. My solution was to put an additional pan on the stove with 1/2â of water in it and boil the filter for 30 seconds. This seems to get rid of any residual taste from the filter.

Makes a perfect pour over!
I love the simplicity, and the personalized way of making my coffee in a pour over style every morning. The Chemex filters are essential to this. The white paper design is lovely and very easy to use. I have no problems with splashing or grounds leaking into my brewed coffee.Would recommend to anyone!
