Customers say

Customers find this decaf coffee tastes great, with one noting its consistent flavor hot or cold, and appreciate that it saves money and is easy to use. Moreover, the product is convenient for travel, faster than Nespresso machines, and strong, with one customer mentioning it holds up well with ice and cream. However, functionality and expiration date receive mixed reviews, with some saying it works great while others find it terrible, and some noting the expiration date is very soon.

My girlfriend loves these and makes me buy them for her.
My girlfriend loves these and makes me buy them for her. It’s instant but as good as a fresh cup of coffee at Starbucks. You’ll have to try it to believe it. You can also get a smaller box of 10 for about ten bucks. She only uses half of the envelop for her coffee, so the 50 packets will last her 100 days. Very convenient. I like it stronger, so I use one each time I drink coffee.

    Best decaf I’ve found.
I was actually one of the first consumers to test this coffee, even before it was available. I was doing a job for a customer one day that happened to be a Starbucks employee. We of course were chatting about coffee when I admitted to her that I had made the switch to decaf. I had to come back the next day to finish the job and when I arrive, she presented me with the small box of little pouches. My first reaction was instant coffee? Yuck. She laughed and said just try it. I couldn’t believe it when I had the 1st cup. It tastes nothing like your grandmother‘s instant coffee. I’ve been a loyal user of this for many years now. It is so convenient to carry as well. Now you don’t have to worry if your friends will serve decaf. Just pop a few of these in your pocket and then when it’s time for coffee, just ask for hot water. The pouch makes a nice stirring stick too.

    Delicious, quick and easy
When we switched from regular freshly-ground bean coffee to decaf, we tried Via Instant decaf — and never went back to grinding beans! The taste and invigoration is just as good, and the ease and convenience cannot be beat. The price is a bit steep—but our fabulous bulletproof morning coffee at home is still way less expensive than a specialty coffee at any coffee shop. So far, we are willing to pay for convenience. Luckily we can now buy Via Italian Roast on Amazon, even as decaf. Earlier, we had to buy it at Starbucks shops overseas.

Comparing 5 Brands of Instant Coffee Packets
I like coffee that tastes like coffee beans, not like emaciated grocery store brands from the Fifties. I’ve always thought Starbucks fresh coffee tastes “burnt” so I stopped going there in favor of “The Human Bean” in Phoenix. And after reading about the owner of Starbucks, I did this subjective taste test to try and find an instant I could live with to “instantly” move away from giving my money to Starbucks Via.In my comparison of five brands, I used one teaspoon of instant and ¾ cup of hot water in each brand, kept it just black, and tasted it hot. Next, I added one teaspoon of heavy cream and 10 drops of Sweet Leaf brand vanilla-flavored extract and tasted it hot. Then, I waited until it cooled to room temp and tasted it again. Here are my personal findings with 5 being “worst”:5. Waka Decaf – Slightly sour and brackish, tastes “instant” and gets worse as it cools. An absolute “no.” (1 packet per 8-10 oz.)4. Jacobs Espresso – Watery, thin, and so “smooth” as to be tasteless, and they have the nerve to call this “espresso”? (No English instructions I could find—I guess they didn’t think it was worth the bother—and they’re probably right.)3. Mt. Hagen Espresso – Also too smooth and lacking in taste, but has a wee more grunt and flavour than Jacobs. (1 packet per cup—I assume they mean 8 oz.)2. Café Bustelo Espresso – Definitely better than the others but still “middle of the road” when it comes to true bean flavour. At least it tastes like coffee, even when cool.1. Via Decaf Italian – IF you mix as instructed (1 packet per 8 oz.), it’s too strong and has a slightly burnt taste . However, you can make a perfect travel mug of coffee by adding 16-20 ounces of hot water instead and just one packet of this very robust, powerful instant that actually tastes brewed. You also get two times more coffee for the money, via Via, because the packet makes such strong coffee. My tastebuds have failed to escape the Starbucks czar with this test, so maybe I should give those Fifties store brands another go.

    Arrives very promptly.
This order arrived sooner than expected as I live in a rural area. I like this product as it’s enough for a 16oz travel mug. This means I can get two 8oz coffee cups per package. The price of coffee is now very high. Put tariffs on the countries that export to us and watch the price rocket.

Buyer beware– Uses Methylene Chloride to decaffinate.
I was very disappointed to see they use Methylene Chloride to decaffeinate their coffee. It’s basically a paint stripper used to separate out the caffeine. Bad stuff and about to banned for use in food products.Look for decaf coffee using the CO2 water process. It’s safe to drink. From the EPA website:Today, April 30, 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency finalized a ban on most uses of methylene chloride, a dangerous chemical known to cause liver cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, brain cancer, cancer of the blood, and cancer of the central nervous system, as well as neurotoxicity, liver harm and even death.

Loved it, but it was a bit pricey since I bought it online. I hear decaf is good for you, too.

This is one envelope the size of your hand, containing 8 tiny tubes of coffee, not a ‘box’ with 8 packets. Description and price give the impression your order will contain 8 of these, but in fact it is just one.
