Customers say
Customers find these coffee filters durable, easy to use, and appreciate their eco-friendly nature, with one customer noting they’re partly made of hemp. The filters receive positive feedback for their taste, leaving no aftertaste, and customers consider them a great value. However, customers disagree on the functionality, with some reporting issues with Chemex compatibility, and there are mixed opinions about the fit, with some finding them too small. Additionally, customers note that the filters slow the brewing process significantly.

bottom line? works, tastes good, no sediment. Coffee, Kava, and fine filtration all good!
I use these to make pour-overs every morning, KAVA medical tea, and other infusions when needed. I have just reordered a pack after using them for the last several months. I have only 2 left in the box.The basic rundown:Pros- hits all the marks for making coffee- works for pour overs and makes the noted pour-over shape with appropriate grounds- absolutely stays together at the seam without breaking or leaking (I use the folded seam method) 100%- leaves no sediment in my mug whatsoever- 100% biodegradable filters- works for how I do kava with the tiniest bit of sediment whereas everything finer clogs and does nothing or lets tons of powder through making for a bitter and unpleasant drinking experience- the box is a great shape, super easy to store in a drawer or on a shelf, and they do keep the plastic to a minimum- fits my typical 02 sized ceramic pour-over coffee dripper just fineCons– though the box is great in hindsight, I wasn’t expecting it and the filters themselves were wrapped in a plastic bag inside the plastic box… I was hoping for a cardboard storage container or some other also biodegradable packaging material. Especially from the photos that didn’t include it and had a cardboard tag… I don’t like the fully plastic nonrecyclable nonbiodegradable sticker on the whole set up IN THE LEAST.- both a pro and a con, the filter is too fine for liquids with fats or are thickened at all. I have tried them with milk infusions and with kombucha. These two liquids do not move through… which I don’t expect them to change! I just don’t recommend you use them for THAT. They are intended for coffee, however, and that they do well. The outcome? They work too well for me NOT to buy again and I highly recommend them. I HOPE the manufacturer follows my suggestion and then I’m gonna be screaming their worth at the top of my lungs to everyone.Suggestion for the manufacturer– the box is both itself is a pro and a con. It’s an awesome storage container, but there are more eco-friendly and better. I wish I could buy a replacement filter batch to put in the box that was wrapped in corn/bioplastic that I could throw in my municipal compost and that you would supply a set with a nice bamboo or aluminum box similar in shape and size (which, though plastic, is perfect and low profile for these!!) for the first batch instead of the plastic one. If you did that I would totally buy that and refill it on a subscription! These filters are that great.Thoughts and experiences:As far as waste goes, as long as you are using this in a place where you have access to any form of compost, this is great. It’s a bit of a wash when you’re trying to save material and water by buying reusable filters since making the cloth takes dozens to hundreds of gallons more water than making the paper filters and you use water to wash them — and they are difficult to get clean. Yet, disposable means you’re using the manufacturing process per each. That said, reusable ones will continue to be made at nearly the same rate. So. I opted for compostable as it saves my garbage disposal and may end up coming out even if not slightly better in the water-saving category (after having the luck to talk to a waste disposal expert at the school I was working at who fell heavily in favor of composted over reusable on coffee filters.)As to the coffee taste, I bought these after having a terrible experience with another organic brand that claimed their seams would stay together and had a flat bottomed cone. Every 3rd filter split at the bottom and dumped all my grounds and water at once into my cup. Infuriating before my morning cuppa, to say the least. My now ex-husband and I were also trying out a typical coffee machine for the morning routine at the time. He kept the machine, and I wholeheartedly preferred pouring through these. The taste quality is miles apart. Comparing them directly, these are so so so much better and about as fast as waiting for that.I’m not TERRIBLY picky about my coffee, but picky enough. These filters will make the needed “cone” or “reverse volcano” shape needed to brew good tasting pour-overs. They won’t win any awards without you being a wiz with coffee equipment and grounds and being able to adjust everything – but that’s true for ANYTHING. Sure, things tested for consistency for their particular products will give you an upper hand because they account for many factors together, but not all. However, I can adjust a grind, buy the right roast, and have a gooseneck boil kettle. So, my coffee is “cafe-quality” with this, not boutique, but I think that’s more on me. I’m not willing to do THAT work. For those of you who read KAVA at the start of this and came here for that:I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to soak kava in a bag and squeeze and soak again, and squeeze, and I’ve never NOT gotten a ton of sediment in what I’m drinking. It takes forever and it’s gross. Recently I developed “air thirst” which is a fancy way of saying constant hyperventilation that doesn’t come with a noticeable panic or emotional response. ie I’m calm and going through my day and breathing fine, but feel like I’m drowning because I’ve accepted a certain level of constant stress hormone all the time so my body is squeezing my lungs while I breathe and like the frog in slowly heating water I didn’t notice how tight everything had become. It’s awful. I can’t take a whole bunch of different medications due to some health issues, but with some really light beta-blockers, and physical practices, Kava is helping give me the edge to untangle it. So how the heck do I not spend all day making it? THIS FILTER.I put presoak kava in a small container for a minimum of 10 min then add that and chamomile (two herbs that have double-blind studies verifying their safety and some effectiveness) in this filter in a ceramic “drip cone” (pour-over cone, drip coffee maker, etc) and pour hot water over it. The kava is really fine, so it will slow the process quite a bit. Some water will even stay at the bottom in a kava sludge. But I let it drip slowly and come back to it when I need to “dose”. I will do this several times through one portion of the kava and chamomile to simulate the soaking and squeezing process. The result is less bitter and grainy. I won’t lie, the kava is much much finer a powder than the coffee is! So there is a small amount of kava settlement in the bottom of the mug. It’s the smallest amount I have found with ANYTHING that will still move through the filter! Everything else gets 100% stopped up with the kava and nothing filters through.

Filter Does the JOB!
This filter does what it’s supposed to do: filter water as it passes through coffee grounds. I gotta admit… when I first saw these cone-shaped filters upon taking them out of the shipper package, they looked to be too large; i.e.: not actually #2 cone filters. I was getting ready to be disappointed. However… upon opening the package and placing the filter into my cone-shaped “dripper” carriage… viola!… the thing fit like a M.J. velvet glove! I was happy! I was happier yet after making my first cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee using this filter. No complaints from me… Good Filter!

Excellent flavor: better flavor than any coffee filter Iâve ever used. Makes excellent pour over
These hemp folders produce the best tasting pour over coffee Iâve ever had. Iâve used paper filters and theyâre pretty good â organic paper filters that is. However, these hemp filters produce superior flavor. Theyâre a little on the expensive side for coffee filters â I wish they were cheaper because I regularly purchased them. I gave it four stars because the price is steep. I think even though these are hemp they could be a few dollars cheaper. I wish they were $10.

Perfect Coffee Filter for Hario V60
According apparently, I’ve previously purchased these 26 times so that translates into 2,600 cups of coffee using a ceramic Hario V60. As of today. And I’ve been just as pleased from cup one to 2,500+. Fantastic filter without effecting coffee flavors.Protip (if you didn’t know): I always rinse this filter with a pre-pour prior to grinding the coffee beans and it also serves to warm the coffee cup. Just remember to dump out that pre-pour–which I learned the hard way.

Works great – too expensive
I like these because they’re partly made of hemp. I don’t like them because they’re twice the price of the regular filters. Read a review that said you could wash and reuse them. I tried that a few times and it’s not good. The second drip goes twice as slow and makes a bad cup of coffee. If you don’t care about the quality of your coffee, you are probably not using a v-60 to drip your coffee. I want to buy more products that are sustainably made. Hemp is cheap, easy to grow and a great renewable resource for paper as compared to trees. Hemp has finally been legalized to grow in the US. Maybe the cost will come down as more and more hemp is grown. Right now, I feel these are more expensive because it’s targeting a more affluent / environmentally minded crowd. #greenwashing

Great filters!
Very good and strong filters. Make perfect, flavorful coffee. Came in a neat plastic case, great for storage. I got a bit confused by a card attached with the product that instructs to ‘Cure your hemp filter’. These are not hemp filters though, so no need for any special treatment. Just go ahead and brew your delicious coffee right away!

Advertised to fit the small Chemex…..DOES NOT FIT AT ALL
If anyone has the smaller 1-3 cup chemex, this product is not even close to fitting and you’ll get grounds inside your coffee and have bubbling issues (air exchange issues due to improper fitting of the filter) that will spew grounds and coffee all over your counter.Sellers: just because this fits the 1-2 Hario pourover doesn’t mean it automatically fits the Chemex 1-3 cup. The chemex has a narrower diameter and is taller. One size does not fit all and this was an expensive filter purchase I cannot use.Because I was still using my old filters I did not discover this product didn’t fit until after the return window. Again, if you have the 1-3 cup Chemex, do NOT buy this product. I blame the sellers for mis advertising.
