The Particle Size Distribution-Pour Over Our Grinder VS Ideal Distribution*
* Meets the ‘Specialty Coffee Association of America’ Golden Cup brewing standard for perfect coffee extraction.
The perfect brew hinges on the subtleties of Particle Size Distribution (PSD)—and that’s where burrbuzz’s grinder excels. With meticulous R&D, our grinder is crafted to achieve the ideal PSD for various brewing methods, unlocking the richest flavors coffee has to offer.
For instance, in a pour over, a PSD with 35-40% of particles sized between 630-850μm yields a cup bursting with bright acidity and alluring aroma, while ensuring less than 2% are under 180μm to avoid over-extraction and bitterness.
We’re proud of burrbuzz’s precision, providing coffee enthusiasts with grounds tailored for optimal extraction and an exceptional coffee experience.

In espresso extraction, it is essential to ensure that 33-40% of the coffee grounds have a diameter of 220-300μm, and less than 3-5% are under 220μm. This ratio is key for achieving a strong body, dense crema, rich dark chocolate flavor, and a reasonable flow rate during extraction. At the same time, having 20-25% of the coffee grounds between 400-500μm is important for the espresso to properly exhibit enough caramel sweetness and the other enchanting flavors.
We’re proud of burrbuzz’s precision, providing coffee enthusiasts with grounds tailored for optimal extraction and an exceptional coffee experience.

Easy to use. Nice looking.
This is my first upgrade from a blade grinder. I need a coarse grind for my French press. This is easy to use and stylish. I wish it had a larger capacity as I have to fill it several times to make a liter of coffee. But it works so well, that’s not a chore.

Extremely Well Made
The grinder does exactly what it was designed for and with precision that is not found outside of a fine watch or rifle. Simple, precise, extremely well made. What more could you want?

Love this grinder! We pair it with our Cafelat Robot. Perfectly designed!
Ideal design: the section that holds the grounds at the bottom is attached magnetically and snaps off to load the espresso into your maker. We use it for espresso. Consistent great burr grinder. A pleasure to use. It takes us about 100 turns to do 25 grams for our Cafelat Robot.

Slippery to hold while grinding
The resistance while grinding is significant and because of that the grinder turns in my holding hand. I had to wrap several rubber bands to be able to hold it still.Other than that it gives nice uniform grind for excellent cup of coffee.

MB2 Manual Coffee Grinder,External Adjustment,35g Large Capacity Burr Grinder,Magnetic catch cup Less Mess,Stainless Steel Espresso Grinder Great Flavor in Pour Over, French Press(Black)so this would be a 4 star item, except that it is less than half the price of comparable grinders. making it in my opinion the best pouind for pound grinder i have ever used. and i do not give out outstancings often. here’s why. first the magnetic catch cup, great. handle is comfortable in use. the 30grams for dark coffee is not real. i put in 21grams of dark coffee and the catch cup was full after grinding. so thats wrong. but here is what makes this awesome. so the typical –wait, look i am an espressso guy. with pourover, drip, and moka, french etc. coffee grinds some variance coarse or fine matters very little. with espresso, it matters. sooooo much. the difference of a few microns will make the difference between a sour, good or burnt brew. the differences in grind are subtle but critical. most manual grinders have 10 to 20 steps. which do not offer enough granularity between steps to get it just right. the mb2 has 144 steps. this is listed at 65bucks at the moment and it has more steps than many 500$ electric grinders. outstanding. really. it is not stepless, which my normal everyday use grinder is and i am spoiled because of it. so when i first started testing grinders i was like–why isnt this working. i cant find the sweet spot. but the mb2 gives you so much more in terms of the gamut or range where the sweet spot lies. it istn stepless, so there are gonna be some gaps where perfection is and you can get real close and maybe hit it maybe not. but from this guys experience this is the best manual grinder for espresso, just because it offers the largest range of varialbility for espresso. i also was able to make a very tasty espresso on my second try. i have never gotten an espresso properly dialed in on a manual grinder before. and dialing in on a manual is shall we say ALOT of work. also, it works fine with a hand drill in low speed mode. so it is optionally eletric if your handy. for the rediculously low price compared to the contenders, this is an amasing grinder.

Genuinely awesome
This manual grinder is just fantastic. I own a ~$500 electric burr grinder for espresso and a ~$60 electric burr grinder for drip/pour over/french press and I will compare this against both.First up, this absolutely destroys the $60 grinder. That grinder is not at all a bad grinder, but cannot grind consistently enough for espresso. It always outputs about 5 grams of super finely ground coffee regardless of the grind setting, although luckily the fines tend to collect around the output spout. I’d say that for every 50g ground I probably lose 7g of coffee between what gets stuck in the machine and the fines that collect on the edge of the basket. My $500 espresso grinder is much more consistent but it’s also not a top of the line grinder. It is a good grinder but it has issues with grounds getting stuck in the output chute and adjusting the grind size is miserable. I’ve had to draw all over the size selector ring because it lacked gradation markings. As a result I don’t dial in my espresso very often (just on a bean variety change, not by batch or bag). I lose about 2g of coffee to every 20g in to chute clogs and loss around the edges of the portafilter during grinding. It does make consistently good espresso, but it is loud and annoying to clean/service.Compared to both of these grinders this grinder is AMAZING. The burr set seems to be pretty good quality and ground very consistently (at least as good as the $500 electric grinder, if not slightly better). The markings for setting grind size are intuitive and have a positive click that feels great and clearly shows each adjustment step. The magnetic basket stays on well during grinding and they even use the magnetic locking as a way to shake the grounds off the basket walls (which don’t hold grounds that badly to start with). The only real issue with the basket is the bottom corner, which holds about 1g of coffee grounds in the crease. This is not zero waste, but it is still much better than the other options. This grinder is so much easier to clean than either of my electric grinders, its really night and day. From a manufacturing standpoint this is very well machined and it came very clean (no metal dust or chips remaining from manufacturing. All the edges are chamfered and it feels like a premium product. It arrived in a nice little box with custom cut foam to store the grinder and brush. The manual has clear, straightforward, well-written instructions. It might have a better manual than the $60 electric grinder made by a major kitchen goods corporation.I don’t prefer manual grinding to electric, but this is a joy to use and doesn’t take much longer than my electric grinder (maybe 3x as long, which means 10 seconds of grinding becomes about 30 seconds) for 20g of espresso beans. In a home brewing environment it works and is fun to use.I can’t recommend this enough, its fun, premium-feeling, well designed and grinds great coffee!
