Our story
How we got our start Zassenhaus was founded over 150 years ago. In 1887, we made our first coffee mills, almost 120 years ago we developed our pepper mills. We now offer a variety of high-quality kitchen accessories. What makes our product unique Nothing is worse than big chunks of pepper when you want fine, and vice versa! That’s why we invented the first continuously adjustable grinding mechanism made of high-quality German ceramic. Why we love what we do We believe happiness starts in the kitchen. The aroma of freshly ground coffee or spices fill the home and create memories. We love providing top quality products that give the best memories.

Customers say
Customers appreciate the manual food mill grinder’s appearance, build quality, and functionality. They find it looks good enough to leave out on the counter, is well-made, and does an excellent job every morning. Many are happy with its ease of use and adjustment capability. Consistent Grind
This produces a very consistent grind. Some may find it difficult to turn. Just hold it between your knees. It’s best for small quantities of 1-3 cups. If you consistently grind for 10 cup brews, you will wish you had an electric grinder. If you want fast and easy, get something else. This looks good enough to leave out on the counter, it is of sturdy construction and performs as expected. It was delivered on time and well packaged. I’m very satisfied with this purchase.

I look forward to using this every morning
After buying and returning a cheaper Hairo hand grinder that broke on the second use, I bought this well-designed and sturdy grinder. It’s far easier to crank than the Hairo and the grind is more consistent. One tip that’s not in the instructions is this is designed as a “knee grinder” – you should sit down with it between your knees, crank with one hand and steady it with the other. Works great and takes about as long as the water takes to boil.

Low feature stars, but this is a cool grinder.
Ah, those days when you didn’t get to just push a button to get the results you want. You actually have to grind this grinder, which is just fine with me. This baby can grind coffee so fine that my espresso machine can’t push water through. I just backed off the adjustment wheel and got exactly the grind I was looking for. Everything is manual, super simple, a real pleasure to start my weekend espressos.

Works fine and pretty
It grinds coffee well, and also, it is very pretty. But, it is a little tough to grind coffee bean because it is not attached to the ground, so I have to hold it to grind bean. But, I like this product because it is 25 year long guaranteed.

Base fell apart after two years of sporadic usage
Not built to last. Base is held by 8 tiny metal bindings, resembling stapler staples. Was good while it lasted, but common $100 product deserves better craftsmanship or quality control. If it was $30 or $40 Iâd understand. If youâre looking for solid built, look elsewhere. This was used maybe at most five times a month for two years and base broke off today while grinding coffee. Disappointed with craftsmanship, not a $100 product.

Great quality!
I love this coffee grinder! I had an electric one that recently broke and couldnât find any that werenât made in China so we looked at mechanical solutions. This grinder is well made and easy to use! I set it for coarser grind when Iâm making French Press coffee and a finer grind for pour over. If they make a larger one I would buy that too!

Cute package with mechanical problems
I use Ekocups for my Keurig and the grind is critical. When it is set just right the grind quality is perfect. The problem is that the setting won’t hold it’s place an d slips into too fine a grind, thus clogging the Ekocup. I’ve tried to find a way to shim the adjustment nut into place but can’t get the mechanism apart. The problem seems to get worse with wear.

Elegant but inconsistent.
Looks great on my kitchen countertops but functionally much to be desired. The grinding gets pretty tough on the finer settings and takes a while. Quite inconsistent grind size on the coarser settings and the grind setting moves off position easily. The base of grinder would benefit greatly from a piece of rubber or some other material to avoid sliding and slipping on smooth countertops.

This is a great little grinder that makes perfectly coarse ground coffee for our French Press coffee maker. The grind is consistent and much better for the press than the coarse or fine grind that you can buy in stores.
