Works but difficult to clean
I love loose-leaf tea and an always looking for more tea accessories, so I was excited to find these infusers! I have now used them several times, and have mixed feelings about them.1. They are somewhat spoon-shaped when you raise the cover, which means that you can use the infuser itself to scoop out the perfect amount of tea instead of using a spoon to measure it out and put it into the infuser. This is great!2. The general length and shape are fine. These infusers are longer than necessary for a mug (but it doesn’t cause any issues) but they’re long enough that you could easily use them in a bottle or tall glass, which is a nice option to have.3. The mesh part slides up and down but not off the infuser, which is nice as far as keeping things together goes…but not nice for cleaning it. Cleaning in general is overly difficult. As you can see from the picture tea bits tend to get stuck in the upper portion, and sometimes they expand enough that running water into the top doesn’t always work to push them out and then it’s nearly impossible to get clean. The little cleaning brushes that come with the infusers do not really help.4. The metal is very thin and cheap, and it has already dented slightly on one of them (see picture).5. The holes in the metal work for infusing and while they are comparable to a few other infusers I have, I prefer infusers with slightly smaller holes since these are large enough that small bits of tea can escape and end up in the bottom of my cup. See the picture, it’s not too egregious but there are definitely bits left over that floated out through the holes.Overall these infusers are fine, but I do feel like they’re more trouble than they’re worth when it comes to cleaning, so I will probably not be using them regularly going forward.
