    MHW-3BOMBER 53mm Espresso Coffee Tamper
The MHW-3BOMBER 53mm Espresso Coffee Tamper is hands down one of the best tampers I’ve used! The quality is exceptional—it’s made with durable materials, and you can really feel the solid craftsmanship in your hands. The 53mm size fits my portafilter perfectly, providing an even, consistent tamp every single time, which is key for a great shot of espresso.I love the ergonomic design—it’s comfortable to hold and easy to control, allowing me to tamp with precision without straining my hand or wrist. The flat base ensures an even distribution of pressure, which has noticeably improved the quality of my espresso, from the evenness of the puck to the smoothness of the crema. The polished finish gives it a sleek, professional look, and the weight feels just right—not too heavy, but substantial enough to make a difference. It’s easy to clean, and I can tell it will last for a long time.If you’re serious about your espresso, this tamper is definitely worth the investment. It’s improved both the consistency and quality of my coffee, making it an essential tool in my routine. Highly recommend the MHW-3BOMBER 53mm Espresso Coffee Tamper for anyone looking to up their espresso game!

    Great, satisfying tamper
Very well made, heavy and the wood looks beautiful! Very nice click when you reach 30lbs. Couldn’t be happier with it. Very stylish and function.

    Would recommend
Upgrading from a traditional heavy 58.35mm Lelit tamper. The Lelit clearly is quality, but the Bomber self leveling and pressure features work great. Definitely streamlined my workflow.Build quality don’t expect it to feel like a $200 tamper (e.g., heft and luxury feel/materials), but the build is quality and feels nice (think VW vs Audi). Walnut handle looks nice and is well finished, no lateral slip/binding on the tamper slide. No regrets. Would recommend.

    Amazing Force-Like Tamper
I can’t speak more highly of this MHW-3Bomber Tamper. It offers essentially the same functionality as the much more expensive Force Tamper (which costs 4x as much) in a reasonably priced and beautiful package. Here’s what I love:1. It’s self-leveling on your filter basket so you’ll always tamp evenly.2. It’s calibrated for 30 lbs of force, but you don’t feel that you have to exert that much pressure, because the spring loaded mechanism will apply the force easily and then “snap.”3. It has a lovely circular ridge pattern, which may perhaps help with distribution and extraction. Even if it doesn’t I love looking at it.4. Aesthetically, it is beautiful in black with maple accents. It matches my coffee bar very well.5. In terms of functionality, I found the combination of this tamper with the IKAPE Mantis for distribution produced excellent shots using Urth Caffe fresh beans with no channeling or problems whatsoever. If you are looking for a fantastic tamper, I highly recommend this one.

Great Engineering & Build. Consistent 29.5lbs. But thin base-plate. Small handle not ergonomic.
This is a well engineered percussive tamper that uses top quality precision manufactured components. It has a measured consistent tamp pressure of about 29.5 lbs. It has a dampening mechanism that minimizes the main-spring reset percussion so that it only feels like a mild tap and cannot possibly destabilize the coffee puck. The tamper has a firmly seated base-plate shaft that doesn’t wobble and a very smooth gliding action when compressing down on the handle. The stated 58.35mm rippled base-plate diameter is accurate (measured with digital calipers). The base-plate thickness is not sated in the Product Description but I measure it as 6mm from the top of the base-plate to the tip of the rippled peaks on its bottom. Fortunately the thin 6mm base-plate does not effect the calibrated tamping pressure when used on espresso machines like the Gaggia Classic that require a minimum 9mm tamp-depth (see Triple-Spring “Percussive” Tamper Details). It also includes an extra 15lbs main-spring in case you decide to lower the default 30lbs tamping pressure (20lbs main-spring can be ordered separately).Cons:1) The base-plate thickness is only 6mm which results in a minimum 6mm tamp-depth at the puck’s rippled valleys (the puck rippled peaks are at a slightly less tamp-depth). I use a Gaggia Classic espresso machine which, like many home machines with a 58mm commercial-grade grouphead, has a 9mm grouphead coffee puck tamp-depth clearance requirement (measured from rim of filter-basket to top of compressed puck). With this tamper you need to always accurately weigh your filter-basket dose to make sure it compresses to a depth greater than this minimum 9mm limit and prevents the grouphead from mangling the compressed coffee puck. A 9mm thick base-plate would have alerted the user of an overfilled filter-basket because the tamper leveling-plate would not be in contact with the filter-basket rim if the puck tamp-depth is less than 9mm when the tamper bottoms-out .A 9mm thick base-plate would also have given the tamper significantly more weight and lowered its center of mass. This combination would allow the tamper to function as a make-shift coffee puck leveler by simply spinning it in the loaded filter-basket prior to tamping.2) The small bulbous handle is not very ergonomic for applying 30lbs of force which is probably why they needed to add the flange so that you could also use your fingers when pushing down. A larger 54mm diameter, gently domed, flat-top handle would have been much better and would allow using an opened-hand palm to apply the pressure.FYI – Triple-Spring “Percussive” Tamper Details:Single-spring and double-spring leveling tampers produce lower tamp pressure as the coffee puck tamp-depth increases. Only triple-spring leveling tampers can produce their calibrated maximum pressure independent of the puck tamp-depth. They have an internal release mechanism that stops the main-spring from compressing any further once the maximum calibrated pressure is reached, regardless of the tamp-depth. Triple-spring leveling tampers are also sometimes called “percussive” tampers when their pressure control mechanism stops the increasing main-spring compression force by suddenly releasing the compressed spring. This sudden percussive snapping-back of the internal main-spring, resetting it back to its initial compressed state before the tamp began, is what causes the tamper’s “click” sound and the “tap” sensation. Excessively violent main-spring reset percussion can potentially cause structural cracks to form internally in the compressed coffee puck. Well engineered percussive tampers have an internal dampening mechanism that prevents excessively violent percussion resets. It is a significantly better tamper than the violently percussive XAQMHSW Triple-Spring Impact Coffee Tamper.

    Works and looks good
This is a nice, well built tamper. I do wish it could be adjusted to use with a dosing funnel. As it is, my Breville fills the basket a little over the top edge. So, I have to tamp the grounds down some with the Breville tamper, remove the dosing funnel, then finish with this tamper.

Best tamper at a reasonable price
I’ve been using the Normcore spring-loaded tamper for a while, and it performs well overall. Initially, I assumed the MHW-3Bomber tamper would be similar since it’s also spring-loaded, but once I got my hands on one, the difference was obvious. With the 3Bomber, you hardly need to apply any force to achieve the 30 lbs of pressure, whereas with the Normcore, you have to press down a bit harder. This sometimes causes the Normcore to shift sideways as I tamp. However, with the 3Bomber, I haven’t had that issue—it practically does the work for you with minimal effort. With that said, if you’re deciding between the two, I would highly recommend the 3Bomber—hands down.

Es una gran opción para estandarizar la presión, no te permite presionar de más.
