Works great, many advantages over glass
The ceramic coating is a big plus, especially dealing with an acidic liquid and cleanup as coffee can stain things easily. It keeps the liquid hot for hours! This opens up many opportunities to steep at a lower temperature than boiling reducing the “burnt” taste, reducing some bitterness, allowing refinement to the coffee produced, similar to what the process of cold brewing offers-different grind sizes, longer extraction times allowing very smooth coffees. This opens a world of opportunities for the knowledgeable coffee connoisseur to adapt their brewing to the batch of coffee beans. And the bigger size means 1 brew cycle for a small group with a great brew process, not multiple brews plus allowing small brews with one French press device. The filters work great, the pour spout works great-don’t understand some complaints about the spout as every French press has some form of pour adapting. Plusses much greater than a minus.

    Works like a Yeti
I was very wary of purchasing this press given the price, but wanted a good press for a vacation to Idaho/Montana. Looking for something that could take some punishment, produce great coffee, and keep the coffee warm between cups. I reviewed several others and decided on this one since I’ve had great experiences with other Yeti products. For being durable- this press is a tough as it gets. I figure this item is going to be passed down a few generations. The Yeti site says it is incredibly tough and they were not lying. The drawback here though is the weight. We flew on our vacation, to so this had an impact. FYI- this will trigger a look by TSA going through pre-check.The coffee? – consistent with other presses that I have use in the past. Except the big plus here was the GroundsControl feature which worked great. This press will keep your coffee warm. The picture on the review are two photos taken 25 minutes apart with hardly any movement on temperature. (I used my Keurig to produce the hot water so it is a little low) I have used this about twenty times now and the “keeping it warm” results are consistent.Ultimately, I think it is a great value and it is easy to clean.

Love love love this French press!
I bought a couple insulated french presses, but none of them have the insulating capability of this one. If the pot is full, the temperature is maintained for hours. Obviously, as you start to drink, the liquid inside starts to cool more rapidly, but this goes for Amy other brand as well.I love that the filter has a one way rubber gasket. It helps to not overbrew your coffee/tea once the filter is pressed. It’s probably super sturdy, but I hide it when we have guests in my house, because I don’t want anyone to break it. It my baby and mine alone lol!

Best French Press both in use and coffee flavor
I was a bit skeptical after being disappointed with the Aeropress for portable coffee making. But because I’ve been a fan of Yeti for such a long time, I decided to give it a try. Not only was this easy to use but it made the most delicious coffee. I’m used to French press and have used a cousin’s French press in which hers is top of the line. I really loved the flavor and have no regrets even with the expensive price tag (compared to the Aeropress). Today was my first day using it but if anything changes with my satisfaction, I’ll update this review.

    Pricey but works
I purchased the Yeti French Press maker primarily because with my old press the second cup of coffee was lukewarm and I would have to put the cup in the microwave to heat the coffee back up. It is not a problem with this French Press as the pressed coffee stays hot and will for a long time. As others have said, the Yeti French Press is pricey, and I would say it is overpriced for what you are getting but it is what it is. And yes, this press is heavy but it is very sturdy and well constructed. The problem I am having is related to that second cup of coffee. I typically drink two cups of coffee in the morning. I use my coffee cup to measure the amount of water I need and put the water in my electric kettle to boil the water. I’ve already put the freshly gound coffee in the French Press unit and then pour the boiled water into the unit. I put the lid on and typically wait 4 minutes before pressing and pouring the coffee into my cup. The first cup is perfect and I’m very happy with the taste and coffee temperature. However, when I pour the second cup, the amount of coffee is significantly less than the first cup. Upon inspection, I see that the remaining coffee is still below the filter. As a result, I’m giving this French Press four stars, but if I can figure the the ‘missing coffee’ problem I would rate it five stars. If anyone has any ideas why this is the case please let me know.Update: I found the cause of the ‘missing coffee’ problem. Upon examining the filter, I realized there was a round rubber piece attached next to it that prevented much of the coffee to strain through the filter. Once I removed it, the problem disappeared. Now it works perfectly. However, I’m not sure why this rubber piece was attached in the first place, maybe to protect the filter during the shipping process.

Nicely engineered but difficult to use
Like:Heavy duty engineering. Nice fit and finishDislike:Very difficult to push plunger all the way to the bottom. Goes easy for about a third of the way and then takes a lot of effort.Very difficult to remove plunger for cleaning. The filter forms such a strong suction at the bottom that it is almost impossible to pull up.The heat retention is oversold. The pouring hole lets heat out. Needs a stopper of some description.I have used the product for about a week thinking maybe it just needed to break in a bit. But I have run out of patience with the product.

Here’s how I make my coffee. I use filtered water from my fridge. Boil it and pour some of the water (1/4) full in the press. I then shake it around to heat it up. Pour out the water then put in 4 heaping scoops of Gold Coast Starbucks coarse ground coffee into the press. I then turn the kettle on again to make sure the water is as hot as it can be and pour over the grinds. I fill it a little more than 3/4 full. Then I give it a stir and put lid on and wait 3 to 4 minutes before plunging. Then I pour into my 20 ounce Yeti Rambler with a little half n half and “Viola” the best coffee Ive had in a long time and crazy hot for a long time. There is only a little left over coffee in the French press that I don’t end up using.

The yeti Product is great and very durable. I use it daily and it’s exactly what I was looking for.A few design issues I’ve experienced is it leaks out the spout btw the gasket and lid and you end up losing a small cup of coffee because the plunger doesn’t go to the bottom. Hopefully this review helps and yeti solves the leaking gasket issue.
