    Tasty And Fresh Whole Beans
I have ordered the Amazon brand coffee several times, and each time I have been delighted by the high quality. I can’t tell the difference between Amazon coffee and the organic coffee I buy at my local Coop. The beans look and smell fresh and the coffee tastes nice. I have primarily tried the light roast and the dark roast. Dark roast has less acrylates than the other roasts, but it also has less caffeine, which is the reason I drink coffee. I am very sensitive to chemicals, but although this coffee is not organic (it would be more expensive if it were), I have not had any bad reaction. I get my nice coffee buzz in the morning. The bag has a badge which says “Rainforest Alliance People & Nature.” There should also be information on the bag about what that actually means, but I find nothing. So it means at the very least that the company is aware of the destruction of the Amazon for crops. I also wish that the bag told me which country or countries this coffee comes from, but it does not. I assume it may be a mix from different companies. The bag comes well sealed, keeping out air.In sum I do recommend the Amazon brand coffees. They are significantly better in taste than the grocery store brands I’ve tried, and they rival the more expensive organic coffees I’ve tried, and offer a good savings over those.

    A surprisingly good light roast!
I am a coffee nerd/shop/fetishist. I have six brewing methods through which I regularly rotate. I spend a lot of time getting water temp, grind, portions, and presentation just right. And, I roast my own beans, unless I have a jammed schedule or the roasting area (an un-cooled garage) is too dang hot here in South Texas. Also, I like my coffee light roasted. Most of the coffee available on the retail market is too dark for my taste. (Are you reading this Char-Bucks?) I’ve spent a lot of time in grocery aisles, market stalls, and coffee shops looking for good light-roasted coffee- always disappointed with the false labeling of “breakfast blend” or “citrus notes”. Small, boutique roasters often have what I’m looking for, but at an eye-watering premium. ($16-$25 per 12oz bag is the market), and a 2.5 hour drive. So, when I stumbled upon this light roast from Amazon I was A) Skeptical and B) Really skeptical. But, the price was right, I was desperate, and it was late. I’d forgotten I ordered it the few days later when it arrived. My spouse was shocked when she saw that I (the coffee snob) had ordered my coffee from such pedestrian a place as Amazon. And, I was skeptical. Until the next morning. Then I was delighted. While it does not lead with the tangy, citrus acidity I favor in light roasts, it does have a nice fruity tone, with subtle and sweet caramel notes, light hints of fruity ground pepper, and a lighter acidity at the front. (I know you’re smirking, but I did say that I am a coffee nerd). It’s simply a pretty decent light roast. No charcoal bitterness, burnt wood, or scorched sugar aftertaste. And it makes a great cold brew. So yeah…. Not boutique. Not home-roasted. But this is my new, and only, retail coffee. Well done.

    Smokey, Chocolaty, Slightly Bitter
I bought the light roast to make cold brew. I have not used it for drip or french press so I cannot review it in that manner. I cold-brewed for 13 hours using a whole 12 ounce bag of whole bean coffee, ground coarsely, 16 cups of filtered water and 1 teaspoon of Himalayan Sea Salt. When you open this coffee it smells of ash. I almost didn’t brew it because that scared me a little! But, my need for iced coffee overwhelmed my hesitation. After grinding my beans they smelled even more ashy and a bit bitter. I persevered. After brewing overnight and straining the grounds, I must admit the brew smelled strong. I used 2 cups of coffee, 2 cups of ice and about 1/2 cup of half & half for my morning iced coffee and it was STRONG.In my opinion, this is a medium roasted coffee, not light. It has a smokey chocolate taste with a bitter aftertaste. It’s not bad coffee but I like a mild flavored coffee and this is not that.

Reliable everyday coffee (maybe not as light as other light roasts though).
My wife and I have been super pleased with this overall. It is NOT the lightest of light roasts. I would say it’s more a medium. Is there better coffee out there? Of course. But overall we’ve just grown a little tired of selecting a much more expensive coffee in store only to find it variable or just not what we like. This has been cheap and tastes decidedly GOOD and, overall, just saved us time! For the longest time I would’ve bet my life savings that you could open one of these bags without tearing it that really meant you needed a container to move the beans into, which we already have; something changed recently (maybe ~Aug/23) and now you can actually open the bag without tearing, which is a nice improvement.

    It’s bitter and over roasted
The price is very low for 3 packs so I wasn’t expecting the quality would be very high. But I was still shocked by how bad it tasted. It is bitter and burnt, not only it’s not a light roast, it doesn’t have any coffee aroma while brewing. Since it’s an Amazon fresh product, it’s not even returnable.

    Perfectly adequate for the price.
Is it fresh? Does it taste good? Is it high quality with consistent bean size, roast, etc.? Do you really expect it to be? No way. But it is pretty adequate for the price and has plenty of alkaloids like 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine, i.e. caffeine. It doesn’t taste foul, just very unexceptional and kind of stale. The pre-ground espresso beans in a supermarket are far better quality so I might go back to that. I’m still giving it a decent rating because it’s exactly what you’d expect from the website brand, lol.
