Great coffee maker
I’ve now had this coffee maker for a while, and ultimately I’m very happy with it. Most importantly, this thing makes a really great cup of coffee. I’ve had, and/or used, a ridiculous number of coffee makers from just about every manufacturer. Among the SCA recommended models specifically, including those from Moccamaster, I don’t think any other machine produces a better cup of coffee than what’s brewed by this Zwilling. I think many of the SCA recommended coffee makers produce coffee that’s as good as the Zwilling’s, but none are better. So in other words, the coffee from this machine is as good as it gets and the price is actually quite a value. The build quality seems good so I’m optimistic about the overall durability and longevity (although I’ll update this review if it turns out otherwise). For those who may be clumsy, like me, the glass carafe doesn’t seem particularly fragile so I’m not worried about breaking it. The carafe is glass though, so it’s certainly breakable, but I don’t think unreasonably so. The overall design is aesthetically pleasing, and it’s practical too, easy to use and maintain. This machine has far more positives than negatives, and it makes good coffee, so I’m not going to list out the “pros” but I’ll call out some “cons”:-the clock can only be set in 24-hr time, which I don’t really mind, but I’m guessing others may prefer 12-hr time. My theory is that most people who buy this machine won’t mind because they won’t be using the programmatic brew start. I say that because coffee is so much better if you grind immediately before brewing vs. grinding the night before. However, I’ve tried it, and the delayed/scheduled/programmatic brewing works as anticipated.-the hotplate doesn’t stay hot for very long. This is a problem with any “quality” coffee maker because manufacturers don’t want to encourage stale or burnt coffee. However, I think my Moccamaster managed this problem slightly better. The issue is that coffee doesn’t taste great after sitting around +60 min. after brewing, especially if it’s burning on a hot plate. My previous coffee maker, the Moccamaster, held coffee warm for about 90 min. but this Zwilling only holds coffee warm for about 30 min. That being said, the Zwilling seems to be more effective because the coffee remains pleasingly warm, whereas the Moccamaster’s “warming” never seemed very warm (note: I didn’t want a machine with a thermal carafe because I think that they’re hard to clean, and I think you get better taste by brewing into glass (it’s a personal preference). When I want to hold coffee warm for longer periods then I’ll pour it into a thermal carafe/thermos/Hydroflask, or just brew a new pot for warm and fresh (better tasting) coffee.)-I can’t easily find how many ounces are in a “cup,” which made it hard to measure the right amount of coffee without weighing. I think each cup is about 5oz, but I’m not certain because I recently purchased the Zwilling grinder so I don’t need to measure out the coffee anymore (the grinder does that for you). I highly recommend buying Zwilling’s grinder to go with the machine).Would I buy again? Absolutely. I was only considering SCA approved coffee makers, and among those, my decision came down to Moccamaster vs. Zwilling. I had a Moccamaster previously, and the coffee was good, but not any better than this Zwilling. The Zwilling cost less, and the aesthetic fit better with my kitchen, which is why I ended up purchasing it and would choose to purchase again if needed.

Makes Coffee Fine But Instructions Are Impossible to Understand
The things I like about it: makes good coffee; separate tank for filling water; auto 30 minute warming shut off.The things I don’t like about it: both the written and video instructions are useless and impossible to understand; the water tank doesn’t separate for easy cleaning; the clock is a 24-hour clock; the lid is not easy to put back on the carafe; no way to extend the warming shut off time.

Update x2: dud
Update 2:A little over 2 years after purchasing the warming plate now never turns off, so I have to unplug the unit after each use. Spend your money on something else as this is a dud.Update:One year after purchasing this I have to downgrade my review further. Coffee tastes terrible now. It does not seem like the coffee maker is getting hot enough anymore to make a decent cup of coffee.Previous review: After my last basic coffee maker died I wanted to get something a bit better and get serious about making good coffee at home, after a lot of research I decided to take a chance on this one despite it only having 17 reviews at the time. It makes great tasting coffee which should be the most important thing right? While thatâs true I would say itâs still a bad coffee maker. The biggest issue for me is the lack of quality control and glitchiness of the controls. This is especially true of the blooming function, which never works when you set it! The only way that I have found to make it work is to go into the settings each time, turn it off, then turn it back on. The other major issue that it is made of very thin plastic parts (other than the carafe which is glass). The lid on the carafe in particular seems so flimsy and looks like it will not last past a few years. I do think that after a few iterations these issues will get worked out, but for now at this price point this machine is not worth your money.

Good coffee but 30 minute hot plate and not replacement carafes available
WARNING: The hot plate only stays on for 30 minutes after brewing and you canât replace the carafe at all.If youâre like us and prefer to slowly sip your pot of coffee throughout the morning this is not the coffee maker for you. The hot plate only stays on for 30 min and I canât find a way to extend that without refilling the water reservoir and starting another pot. Also, there is a version of this available with a thermal carafe but ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to buy that carafe individually or to even buy a replacement glass carafe if needed. If you break your carafe you are out $150 because you now have a useless coffee maker. The coffee brews well and tastes fine, but for. $150 coffee maker the 30 min time limit and carafe problems keep this rating low.

This coffee maker is AWESOME
I never write reviews, but I had to for this Zwilling coffee maker. It makes absolutely delicious coffee, (awarded the SCA Golden Cup and that is kind of a big deal in terms of knowing this coffee maker is doing it all right–the correct temperature, the right bloom option, etc.). The carafe DOESN’T dribble when you pour, the hotplate DOESN’T have that awful black paint that inevitably flakes off and looks horrible. The hot plate stays on for only 30 minutes, but if you’re drinking coffee from a hot plate that’s been cooking your coffee for longer than that–PLEASE, get an insulated carafe to pour this delicious coffee into instead. You can buy one of these with an insulated carafe but it’s about $100 more.I see lots of comments about the carafe being “thin glass” but it doesn’t seem thin to me. I see comments about the lid being difficult to remove and that it breaks–I’m not sure why one would ever remove the lid–it’s easy to clean the carafe and lid while they are still connected.I see folks saying the dial settings are impossible to navigate–a quick scan of the manual and I had no problem with this. All in all, I LOVE this coffee maker and I’ve been looking for a loooong time for one that would match my wish list of features. This one does!

Own both the glass and thermo carafe versions. Both work well. Was able to purchase both on price dips.
Heather MacDonald –
Coffee maker was not inspected before shipping. It was received previously used. Still had coffee on the carafe.

So far this unit has been amazing. Great tasting coffee, simple to use machine – and despite some of the reviews about features not working etc.. I think if you just read the manual properly itâs really not that complicated.

Love the coffee and the maker. To me a bit to program. Wish the lid on the kraft had a different design cause it can be difficult to put back on. If that was easier I’d give it a 5 star
