Great as a spill tray!
It’s too small really to be a serving tray and the bottom feels flimsy, like the cardboard drawer bottoms from a cheap bureau, but it’s perfect as a spill tray for my coffee maker to catch overflow when someone runs it wrong and the coffee starts spilling out. The coasters seem too small to use.

When we first unboxed this set, my wife asked, “Is this a joke”? The tray is so tiny and flimsy it might fit, perhaps, two coffee mugs. Certainly not the plates of food shown in the pictures on the product page. When we picked it up, it felt so lightweight and fragile we were afraid it would crack and fall apart. Upon examining it more closely, it seems a little better than that, but it would never hold up to actual daily use as a coffee tray. The coasters are also tiny and kind of comical. We tried some of our coffee mugs and they just sort of balanced precariously with the coaster somewhere underneath, unseen. They might be good for some of those dainty little espresso cups, but they are pretty much of a joke for most American coffee drinkers. The entire set is good looking enough to be an interesting display piece on a bar, but that’s about it. Probably more appropriate for cheese and cracker snacks served on tiny little saucers.

A cute tray
I ordered this tray to be used as a serving tray. It is adorable and it looks like something you would see in a coffeehouse. It’s cute and kind of folksy. What happened though is that my husband got it and is using it as a laptop tray. When you travel, you don’t want to be setting your laptop on a pillow or comforter as it will get too hot on the underside. So, this cute little coffee tray is being used as a laptop top tray. I can say though, that he is very happy with it. The tray has a lip on it and it allows for ventillation under the laptop as your using it. He’s using a 14″ laptop.
