    Fresh roast coffee
Love these beans for medium/dark roast. I can no longer drink coffee any other way.

    Fresh coffee!
I really enjoyed the fresh coffee I was able to make after roasting these beans. Definitively on par with name brand coffee too. I did not have a fancy roaster, so I used my rotary popcorn pan. This worked great as the beans roasted quickly and evenly!

    Overall, solid!
As someone who has dabbled with roasting green coffee beans, I was interested in trying a single origin variety. The beans I received (June 16th) were processed on April 24th. To start, I tested a medium-light/medium roast, a medium roast and a medium/dark roast. There was a low to moderate amount of husk from the roast. The beans roasted quickly and evenly to a medium roast. Getting the beans darker took a bit more time.Overall, I found the flavor to be uniform and enjoyable, as I would expect with a SO bean of this elevation and wash.To test these beans, I pulled three shots of espresso. I picked up on a bit of toffee notes in the medium roast; there was a pleasant, sharp acidity, followed by a full-bodied flavor and a full mouth feel. I’m not much of a dark-roast person, but I was pleasantly surprised how the dark roast shot turned out. The crema layer was rich and streaked with color. I’m not very fond of the acrid notes of dark roast non-SO Ethiopian beans; I did not pick up as many acrid notes from this variety. At this price point, I would consider using this blend as a “daily-driver” and making coffee for friends that are looking for medium acidity.
