Perfect starter kit
Truth be told I havenât gotten the chance to try this out yet because the process is a little daunting. However, having checked out the product itself Iâm confident that itâs a good quality set. It includes everything you need (except ingredients of course) to begin making kombucha. The most important part to me, honestly, is that it included instructions and a recipe that seem pretty easy to follow.Besides that, I found that each piece seems to be of good quality. Iâm confident that when I finally take the effort to get my Scoby (if you donât know what that is, you are definitely going to want to do a little more research on kombucha) I will have everything I need to get started.Overall, Iâm excited to try my hand at a new hobby and am confident that this kit will be more than sufficient for that. The one thing I will say is that doing a bit more research, this is a pretty small jar. Given the time it takes to make a batch Iâd prefer something twice as large. If it got to the point where I wanted to have some every day, this would not make enough kombucha. Just something to think about. But if you just want some sporadically, this is great.

The ultimate Kombucha brewing and dispensing jar with everything I need!
I have another Yorkshire glass dispenser jar very similar to this one that I use for making Kombucha and I love it! This one is also a high-quality Yorkshire jar and appears to be just as nice with some extra features that my previous one didnât have! I plan to divide my scoby between the two jars so I can continuous brew Black Tea Kombucha and Oolong Tea Kombucha at the same time. When I donât have two brews going, this jar can also be used to store the scoby in between batches. This jar comes with the spigot already installed (my other one didnât). I just checked the nut on the inside of the jar to ensure it was tight, so it doesnât leak. It also has a brew notes section pre-printed right on the jar, so I can use the provided white marker to keep track of the dates and the tea, sugar, and flavorings added. So nice! They also included a stick-on temperature strip, which is necessary and important to monitor that itâs in the ideal range. And it has two tops â one stainless steel solid lid, and one elastic breathable cloth top.As an extra bonus, this jar comes with a large, stainless-steel, very fine mesh infuser filter that fits right on the top of the mouth of the jar, under the lid. So I can add fruit or herbs right into my first fermentation to flavor it, and then pull them out all contained in the infuser filter when done. Iâve never tried that before, as I always add the flavorings when I bottle the Kombucha to allow it to ferment and develop carbonation. I think itâs a great idea, though, and it will save me time and make my Kombucha processes that much easier.I love that this jar set comes with everything I need. This would be the ideal set to get a beginner first starting out making Kombucha. Itâs a really nice set up!

A turnkey Kombucha kit!
I’ve been making KOMBUCHA for about 20 years, so I have made it in a number of vessels. From pickle jars to portable coolers, I’ve used it all, but nothing compares to this fantastic bit of kit. My only gripe is it’s one gallon capacity; however, I understand this is probably aimed at people new to making KOMBUCHA. Plus, not everyone wants a three-gallon vessel taking up space on their countertops. The markings on the side of jar will help newbies through their first batches, but after a short time making KOMBUCHA becomes second nature. The inclusion of the temperature sensing sticker is a nice, useful touch. In the beginning, I had a time deciding on what to cover the vessel with. I started out with a coffee filter and eventually upgraded to cheesecloth. Eventually I purchased a piece of colorful fabric from a craft store. I used a large rubber band to secure it. This setup served me well, but now that I see how convenient the little bonnet included with this kit is, I’ll never use anything other than this. The stainless-steel infusion insert is very well made; however, I personally won’t use it. When my KOMBUCHA reaches the perfect level, I move it to flip top bottles. This allows me to add flavorings to each 24-ounce bottle. That way I have three or four styles of BOOCH.If you are new to brewing and want to supercharge your setup, purchase a FERMINTATION HEATING BELT/WRAP. This allows you to hold the tea+SCOBY at the precise temperature for fermentation. This is not necessary, but it offers peace of mind and consistent batches…..at least until your SCOBY grows to the size of a dinner plate. No, no….I am not joking!May the BOOCH be with you!

Newbie home brewer, good item for first Kombucha making process
Iâm just starting to get the supplies for brewing kombucha at home and this Hemlock gallon Kombucha jar is my first step. The kit comes supplied with a sturdy glass gallon jar that has a metal lid and a very nice big stainless steel, extremely fine mesh filter that fits inside of the top of the jar. Thereâs also a cloth cover with elastic that will help keep any flying critters out of my upcoming brew and is designed to let oxygen exchange happen that will promote healthy yeast activity and fermentation. On the outside of the glass gallon jar are spaces to put the date and labels for tea, sugar, and flavoring for your personalized brew notes. And it comes complete with a white writing-on-glass pen. The box states that the spigot is also stainless steel. Also included is a temperature/thermometer strip backed with adhesive to go on the outside of the jar along with a tiny bottle brush for cleaning. The kit came with a little tip sheet about your first brew and what youâll need. It also goes over brewing and fermenting steps with reminders and trouble shooting tips.Iâm looking forward to being a Home brewer and according to their instructions, if I have questions, Iâm free to ask them to the kit makers.
