Best product I bought on line – read to understand…. and now updated. 12-07-17
I was just going to get the 8″ size – but then I thought – I would not be able to do 1 gallon bags – I was torn… Get just what I need now – or go ahead and spend the extra and get the larger size now. Glad I did. It is well worth the extra money. With this size – I can reuse – cleaned ‘chip’ bags and even reuse my 6 oz. coffee bags from the store – for quick 2 person size meals for rice and beans – I pack separately with instructions on how to cook. (I am a guy!) Very well made of Iron base – and micro switches – that have been well timed (registered) to engage at the right time. Instead of just quart bags – I can pack 1-gallon bags – with whatever I need (4X the size!). The adjustable timer has done everything from 2.5 mil. PE bags to 5.0 mil.Mylar bags — And I still have 25 – 30% left in the heat setting/ time dial. It is a large unit – but so very well made – it reminds me of how things – here in the USA where made 40 years ago.I did have a hic-up with this order. It came w/o the spare set of replacement parts. I am a Prepper and that meant a lot to me – for my peace of mind. – It was the tipping factor in my I decided to order it… I Love Back-Ups (B/U).All I did was to send them an email. thru the account listing and explain what happened. Less than 3 days later I got the B/U Parts – no questions asked. But I Have to add for them – You should have sent me an email confirming your intent to send me the new parts. love what you did. A – Yes. 12- 07-17 (More below)Thanks – I went ahead and got the larger PFS-300 and found that it too will do this level (7 mil multi-layer) Mylar bags with temp. and time on the cycle to spare. This is a well-made piece of gear. STOP LOOKING – You have (IMO) found the best buy on one of these sealers. I am old school and this is great – Very well made – like a 1950s’ shop tool. Heavy – Cast iron base, electronic time and heat cycle – with adjustable micro switches ( if you are a bit of a nerd ! ) spring counterweighted arm And they include an extra heating element. Thanks for such a great piece of gear! If any of you follow me (for recommendations) You know I do give out quite a few 5 stars – because I do the research and only get the best bang for the buck – I do get some off the wall things too – as I am a bit of a prepper and mechanical engineer want to be, too. So I have given my share of 1 & 2-star reviews also. I count cost and quality as my #1 issue and Delivery and Packaging as #2 consideration. This impulse (timed heat and pressure settings) sealer is great – I got the bigger one and do not regret it at all. I now can use much bigger bags for my prepping things. Even Wrapped spare parts!!! Got what I paid for…
I bought this to seal plastic zip locking bags for a business. The unit I received is identical to the pictures. It’s just under 6 pounds, 16 inch long, 3.5 inch wide. The sealing area is 12 inches long and makes a 1/4 (6mm) wide seal. Now, it looks like something from the 1970-1980’s with the color but the construction is quality for what it needs to do. It has a cast aluminum frame with rubber feet that holds steady on a table. It is made in China and the plastic parts reflect that, however, all screws are tight and the knobs and handles work well. The top arm is spring loaded with a central pivot and a rubber piece that provides even pressure across the seal area. The hinge on the top arm to the base is sturdy, slight wiggle side to side if pushed but the arm operates consistently up and down without issue. The unit is ready to go out of the box. The instructions are not translated to English very well. They did provide enough info to use some additional common sense to get started within minutes of unboxing. The dial on the front goes from 0-8 and is basically a timer. There is a red LED that indicates that the heating element is on. It only heats when the arm is pressed down and you will hear a clicking sound. The dial is similar to a seconds timer but slightly shorter. The heat level is unchanged. I began testing 2mil plastic bags on setting 8 and reduced, testing each level. Level 8 melted the 2mm bag at the edge ends during the press (nothing major or concerning, just “over cooked” if you will). Level 2 for this bag made the best seal. I would imagine this unit can seal fairly thick plastic bags with no problem. This unit makes a professional seal, some care needs to be taken for making multipal seals identical, straight and even by hand using this sealer. The seal is permanent it cannot be pulled open. You will need to cut open any bag sealed with this. Overall, this is a great item and competivelly priced. I am more than happy with the purchase to do the intended job.

Although I really love the sealer, the instructions are minimal and not well translated to English so changing the parts became a challenge. Came with extra elements and band however no teflon tape! beware that finding replacement parts for this size is difficult. not always available.
