Great Decaf Coffee
This is a wonderful decaf. When intelligentsia discontinued the decaf el mago I desperately needed another Swiss water decaf coffee that wasn’t acidic or bitter ,and had no odd kaftertaste like lime or pineapple. This is the first coffee I’ve found that hits all 3 requirements. It smells and tastes faintly of honey ,which is delicious, and luckily for me it is not too acidic . I can drink it pure or mix it with my milder low acid beans for a decent cup of coffee.

Really good beans – used for espresso and pourover
I’ve bought both the 1950 and the Sermon. This particular review is attached to the 1950, which is the most recent I’ve bought, but I will also talk about Sermon. Both of these make for an excellent espresso, which I’m making in a Breville Infuser machine, and my preferred format is a 10 oz latte with a double shot (2 oz, or 38g of output). The espresso shots are smooth and each has the characteristics that you’d expect as the tasting notes described by the roaster are pretty spot on.Usually I’ll use a different bean for my pourovers because often a particular blend that makes an espresso to my liking isn’t quite what I like when making a pourover. In this case, the 1950 actually makes both to my liking. The Sermon in my opinion was also good for both as well, but the 1950 was the one I preferred for pourover, though for espresso shots I’d have ranked both about equally, just depending on my mood for the day. These beans are packaged well, in the kind of bag that is characteristic of most good roasters these days, vacuum sealed in a high quality lined bag and a good ziploc-type resealable top. This one is better than some in that the opening is via a nice easy pull strip so that you’re not having to cut across the top.Best of all, for such a quality roast, the price on this is very attractive for this quality.I have only tried these two blends, but I do think I’ll try a few others.

Best coffee ever!
Normally a dark roast fan- now loving Verve âBuena Vistaâ ~ altho itâs more expensive and makes fewer cups than a bag of Peetâs.. Iâll buy once in awhile now that I know of it!

Is this really Verve Coffee????
We get Verve Coffee all the time ordered directly from Verve. Itâs very freshly roasted just before itâs sent. Thought we would save some money through an Amazon subscription. Coffee arrived with a roast date from 2 months ago and really tasted terrible. I question if it was even verve coffe or other beans thrown in a Verve bag. Never again – we will stick with getting it direct.

The best whole bean coffee that I’ve found on Amazon
I’m originally from Santa Cruz and used to hang out at the original Verve on 41st ave. It was a hip little cafe and was my first foray into artisan coffee – back then, as a high schooler, being at a cafe like Verve made me feel trés cool and intellectual.Well it’s now a bit more than a decade later, I’ve lived all over the world and tracked down delicious coffee everywhere that I’ve traveled (including having some Verve coffee from Shinjuku!). During quarantine, I’ve been living up in Oregon and struggling to find a decent source of fresh beans on Amazon. Both of my usual sources of local beans had shut down and I was desperate for my caffeine fix.I tried a few of the less expensive brands here on Amazon but was always disappointed – they were all either over-roasted, stale, or just straight-up low quality. I wasn’t feeling very hopeful about buying beans online. Then one day I saw that Verve beans were on Amazon! It was a moment of deeply nostalgic excitement. I knew I had to give it a try. It’s a bit more expensive, but per-cup we’re talking less than a buck extra. And wow, the extra few cents is worth it! This tastes like the Verve beans that I remember. I’m going to buy a bag of Street Level after this and reminisce about the good old days on 41st ave.Anyways, this is a long review, but the short version is this: spend a bit extra and buy this coffee – it’s worth every penny and you’ll have a cup of coffee better than 95% of what you can get from you local cafes.

Not a great blend, comes out bitter in espresso machine, okay for drip
Being from the PNW, I wanted to like these beans, but they blend and roasting is just not good enough for use in an espresso machine. It works fine for a drip or 2 minute steep in an Aeropress, but is just bitter and oily as an espresso drink. Even a cortado comes out bitter. Add in the cost and that the oily beans get stuck in the hopper and it just isn’t a good value and I won’t be buying them again.
